How to Fix a Disconnected Social Network Account
If a social network shows as "Disconnected" or "Token Expired" in LinkySend, it means the authorization between LinkySend and that platform has expired or been revoked. This is common and easy to fix.
Why accounts disconnect
Social networks use OAuth tokens that expire periodically for security reasons. Common causes: you changed your social media password; you revoked LinkySend's access from within the social platform; the platform's API rotated your token; or you reached the maximum device/app connections allowed by the platform.
How to reconnect
The reconnection process is identical to the initial connection.
- 1Go to Dashboard → Accounts.
- 2Find the disconnected account (shown with a red badge or "Reconnect" button).
- 3Click "Reconnect".
- 4You will be redirected to the social platform's OAuth login page.
- 5Log in (or confirm your logged-in session) and click "Allow" or "Authorize".
- 6You are redirected back to LinkySend. The account now shows green.
What happens to scheduled posts during disconnection
Scheduled posts for a disconnected account will be paused. They will not be automatically published while the account is disconnected. Once reconnected, all your scheduled posts for that account resume their queue and will publish at their scheduled times.
Preventing future disconnections
To minimize disconnections: (1) Do not revoke LinkySend's app access from within the social platform's settings. (2) If you must change your social media password, reconnect LinkySend immediately after. (3) Enable push notifications in LinkySend settings — we send an instant alert when any account disconnects.
FAQ
My Instagram keeps disconnecting every few days. How do I fix this?
Frequent Instagram disconnections are usually caused by Instagram's strict API policies for third-party apps. Make sure you're connecting a Professional account (Creator or Business) rather than a personal account — personal Instagram accounts have stricter API limitations. Also check if 2-factor authentication on your Instagram account is causing token revocations.
I reconnected but posts are still failing. What should I do?
Try fully disconnecting the account (Dashboard → Accounts → the account → Disconnect) and then reconnecting fresh. If posts still fail, check if your account is in good standing on the platform (no violations or restrictions) and contact support@linkysend.com with the error code shown.
Can I connect the same account on multiple devices?
Yes. Your LinkySend account (and all connected social accounts) is accessible from any device. The OAuth connection is linked to your LinkySend account, not to a specific device.
