Fixing Slow Uploads and Video Processing Issues
Large video files can take a few minutes to upload and process. Here's how to optimize your workflow and fix uploads that seem stuck.
Expected upload times
Upload speed depends on your internet connection and file size. As a rough guide on a 50 Mbps connection: 100 MB file = ~20 seconds upload + 1–2 minutes processing. 500 MB file = ~90 seconds upload + 3–5 minutes processing. 2 GB file = ~7 minutes upload + 8–12 minutes processing. After upload, LinkySend transcodes your video for each network — this is normal.
Tips to speed up uploads
To get the fastest possible upload times:
- 1Use a wired Ethernet connection instead of WiFi when uploading large files.
- 2Export your video at H.264 codec (the most efficient for upload).
- 3Reduce your file size: 1080p is sufficient for most platforms — 4K files are 4× larger for minimal visual difference.
- 4Avoid uploading during network peak hours (evenings on residential connections).
- 5Use the LinkySend desktop app (coming soon) for faster chunked uploads.
Fixing a stuck upload
If an upload shows no progress for more than 5 minutes, it is likely stuck. To resolve: (1) Do NOT close the browser tab — it will interrupt the upload. (2) Wait 2 more minutes. (3) If still stuck, click "Cancel Upload", refresh the page, and try again. (4) If the issue persists, try a different browser (Chrome recommended) or clear your browser cache.
FAQ
Does LinkySend compress my video before posting?
Yes. LinkySend re-encodes your video to meet each platform's specific requirements (bitrate, resolution, codec). We apply the minimum compression needed to stay within platform limits while preserving maximum quality. Your original file is never modified.
My video uploaded but shows as "Processing" for over 30 minutes. What do I do?
Processing for over 30 minutes is abnormal. This can happen with corrupted source files or unusual codecs. Try re-exporting your video from your editing software as an H.264 MP4 and uploading again. If the issue persists, contact support@linkysend.com with your file details.
